Ashok and Leela
Mistaken Identity
A New Beginning Ashok and Leela had grown up as orphans, navigating life’s challenges alone. Fate, however, had brought them together, and they found love and companionship in each other. Recently married at the registrar’s office, they were eager to start their new life. Ashok’s job transfer took them to a new city, where they rented a newly constructed house on the ground floor. It was a fresh start—just the two of them, building a home filled with love and warmth. .
Invitation to Relatives
Invitation An Invitation Wanting to reconnect with family, Ashok and Leela invited a distant uncle they hadn’t seen in years. They hoped he would bless their new home with his presence. Days passed in excitement as they waited for their guest. Meanwhile, Leela decorated the house beautifully, ensuring everything was perfect
One afternoon, an elderly man with a small suitcase arrived at their doorstep. He appeared travel-worn but had a gentle demeanor. "Uncle, you must be tired. Please come in," Leela greeted warmly, taking his luggage inside. The man smiled and stepped in, looking around at the cozy home. Without hesitation, Leela guided him to a well-prepared guest room.
Warm Hospitality "You must take rest. Please freshen up, and I will prepare a delicious meal for you," Leela said. The guest, touched by her kindness, nodded. After taking a bath, he sat down to eat the meal she had lovingly prepared. "This is one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time," he praised, genuinely impressed. Leela beamed with happiness, knowing her guest felt at home. .
A Happy Evening That evening, when Ashok returned home, Leela excitedly told him, "Our uncle has arrived! He enjoyed the food so much, and he seems really happy here." Ashok was overjoyed. "That’s wonderful! We should make sure he feels completely at home." They spent the next two days taking care of their guest, offering him the best of their hospitality.
An Unexpected Question On the third day, after breakfast, the elderly man said, "I am truly grateful for your kindness. Before I leave, please tell me how much I owe you for my stay—boarding and lodging." Ashok and Leela were stunned. They exchanged confused glances before Ashok said, "Uncle, why would you say such a thing? You are family! How could we ever ask you for money? The guest chuckled and shook his head. "I think there’s been a misunderstanding. I am not your uncle." .
A Shocking Revelation Leela gasped. "But… then why did you come here?" The elderly man pointed outside toward a board that hung near their gate. It read: Komal Vilas - Boarding and Lodging Ashok and Leela stood frozen for a moment. The house’s previous owner had put up a sign for a lodging service, which hadn’t been removed. The elderly man, assuming it was a guesthouse, had checked in—while they had mistaken him for their uncle! .
Page 8: Laughter and Lessons Laughter erupted as they all shared their side of the story. The elderly man smiled. "I’ve stayed at many lodges, but none have treated me like family. This was a mistake I will always cherish." Ashok and Leela insisted he stay longer, but he declined. "I will always remember your kindness," he said before leaving. As the couple watched him disappear down the street, Ashok turned to Leela and said, "Even in a mistake, life gave us a beautiful experience." Leela nodded. "And a memory that will always make us smile." And so, life continued, weaving its little surprises into their journey. .
